Contemporary Art  /  Historical Context

Venice, Italy – July 6 – July 31, 2018

For this three-week workshop, participants will be in residence at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy with me!

Venice is the perfect laboratory for artistic research. We will use the exhibitions of the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, Punta Della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi, and Peggy Guggenheim Collection as a starting point for in-depth discussion of contemporary art and design theory and practice. This course has the dual intent of acting as a guided international artist’s residency and as a workshop that will deepen students’ knowledge and comprehension of current topics in contemporary art and design practice.

While in residence at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica participants will also have the opportunity to use the Scuola’s studios (painting, etching, relief printmaking, and drawing). Classes will consist of a combination of site visits, field work, technical demonstration, discussions and critiques.
